To meet EGI requirements, members must track user usage and regularly publish the results. To achieve this, GridPP uses APEL, while the NGS has its own accouting System known as RUS and US.
APEL (Accounting Processor for Event Logs) is a component of the EGI CPU Accounting tools, distributed as part of the gLite middleware.
The Resource Usage Specification and Usage Record is an XML based accounting format for tracking the usage of Grid resources. The central RUS service tracks users' usage and stores the data, so that member sites only need to install the RUS client tools.
The RUS&UR database is can then be accessed through the CESGA accounting portal, a front-end view of published CPU resources that have been aggregated into summaries.
